Demon’s Hand, Buddha’s Heart
In a world that is completely losing its mental self like the monkey mind juggling bananas, continuing jumping from thought to thought. Just like the turning of each cycle, that comes and goes, humanity will go through various phases and cycles such as the golden age where everything is bright and rosey to our current age of chaos. In a world that is ever divided by left and right, the once stable middle ground seems to have fallen away. Everything has become extremes. The either side of these extremes work as a binding agent for us to make the perfect unaware slaves. Whether you are bound by shackles in the mining grounds or bound by shackles whilst dressed in fine pressed white robes. Either way we are slaves. A slave to our thoughts, impulses, our environment, and even our guru. We have lost the sense of the self.
Hundreds of years ago during a very similar time when humanity was finding its feet after many great wars and genocides. A great Buddha appeared. This Buddhna realized that for the world and its people to find peace, they have to become both mentally, emotionally and physically stable. To become stable they needed to be in balance. Yin and Yang. Though this Yin and Yang will balance very differently for each individual. Hence people needed to become warriors. Not warriors of war but that of spirit. If you want to achieve or experience that golden age that those lived in, you need to change and transform your inner cycle from one of chaos to one of love and power. There was an old Buddhist Shaolin saying “Gui Shou Fo Xi.” This means demon’s hand, a buddha’s heart. To achieve this balance we need to develop the demon’s hand, whilst maintaining a buddha’s heart. This was written in the Kisshu busshin which is a Sino-Japanese reading of the Kanji.
You may say that these are polar opposites, but both are needed. Demon hand and demon heart, no good. Then you are going to become a threat to this world. But demon hand, buddha heart, then you are going to be able to access something. But then it is going to depend on your heart and on what you are going to use it for. For good or evil. You see we need to strive for thyself, we need to strive for supreme consciousness. To need to break free from the barriers and walls that have been put up around us. That is why this year we must make a promise to oursevles to strive even harder than before to achieve this state of the Buddha. Surround yourself with knowledge, love, inspiration. Choose wisely with whom you surround yourself with. You must keep your sanga strong and always be in satsang. Been in truth. And when those negative things begin to start creeping in from our thoughts, surroundings and people etc. We must use our demon’s hand to destroy it so that our heart remains pure like that of a buddha.
Gui Shou Fo Xi basically means that sometimes we have to do a bit of evil for the greater good. Whether it is removing that negative friend you have in your life, or that negative habit etc. You have to give up something in order to gain something new. Just like a surgeon who cuts open a body and destroys the tissues of the person, he does it for the greater good of performing the surgery of doing a heart bypass, closing up a wound etc. In other words, from its outward appearance the surgeon‘s act appears like brutal means being taken: the devil’s hand. On the very inside, however, the surgeon is filled with benevolence for the patient, trying to save him; that is, the Buddha’s mind. According to this, and from the perspective of medical jargon, Kisshu busshin can be interpreted like this:“The means that we must kill as severe as that of the devil, but the heart as warm as that of the Buddha.” Figuratively saying, “Killing evil by doing evil, but for a good intention.” “
You act as your own surgeon, self-removing YOUR OWN moral diseases. In this way, by removing the evil within, you finally serve the spirit of humanity. We need to make 2026 the year that we give up on those pleasures that prevent us from achieving the ultimate pleasure of self realization. That means cutting off and letting go of all those things that we believe to bind us. That to break free from the cycle of birth and death we need to both be alive to live to the fullest and be at peace with death, as eventually it comes for us all.
As I said, demons hand, buddha’s heart. He is doing so that we can develop and evolve into masters. Therefore, we should “Always be compassionate and peaceful like a Buddha. But when forced to defend yourself, destroy as unmerciful as a devil. Train like the devil to reach the spirit of the Buddha.”
